New Apartment In Ottawa

Creeper ^

Alright everyone so here is an update. Thomas is now living in Ottawa, which is where we're both going to be living. I went to Ottawa this past weekend and helped Thomas pick out things for the place. Make look all nice a pretty :D I must say Thomas did an awesome job at picking out the place. Steph went with him, so it was good to know that there was a women's opinon around, Thanks Steph!! So we bought a couch, kitchen/dinning room table with chairs, carpets, shower curtains, living room curtains, shelving things and then little things, like towels, and then some small kitchen things. He has everything he basically needs right now, so thats good. During Christmas break when he was down here we had bought a bed room set and leather couch. So we have two couches, one being a pull out for company. So the bed room stuff came yesterday.

Megan Margaret Cain

Alright so I was thinking yesterday and I figured I would blog about Megan Margaret Cain. So for those of you who don't know my full name is Megan Margaret Korn. and then you have Megan Margaret Cain. Soooo when I marry Thomas I will be changing my name to Megan Margaret Cain. CREAPY, I KNOW!! hehe. SO Megan and I joke that she will call me Kegan instead. BUT you see she is now moving to GRENADA which makes room for Megan Margaret Cain II. So you have Megan Margaret Cain movin out and Megan Margaret Cain movin in (soon enough). hehehe

People ALWAYS ask me what my last name is going to be when I get married so I tell them. BUT then I tell them about "my fiance's sister's name" and they laugh. I think it's pretty entertaining. But thats it for now.

BTW I see Thomas next FRIDAY which his course will be COMPLETE!!!!

Oh and also 192 days left till the WEDDING!!!

So what do I do?

Well I figured I'd take this time to maybe explain a little about what I've been doing for my training. Not sure if you really know what a Signals Officer is but I'll do my best to explain what I've been doing so far.

On this course we are focusing on more of an officer role, planning and preparing. Last week we were writing orders, and developing Courses of Action "COAs", for a hypothetical scenario. We had to develop communication plans using antennas, satellites, radios, computers, vehicles and troops that would provide a wide range of services to units in a battle field. We had to come up with three options and present them to a commander. Kinda geeky when you think about it, seeing how we aren't using the equipment but simply researching it. So that one of the things that we've been doing. Made for a long week.

Also for the last 6 weeks we've had an assignment to create a CR, basically an office, that would handle all sorts of documents. It had to handle different levels of security and meet a bunch of requirements for rooms, buildings, locks etc. It took alot of time to creat it seeing how we have to ensure that every safety measure to protect information is there. Again Kinda geeky.

In 2 week we start another hypothetical excercise. This time, we get to work in a CP where we basically oversee what is happening on a battle field. We brief anyone that comes in on the situation, letting them know whats happened in the past and what we expect to happen. During this week we'll have to create orders and come up with COAs to present to commanders to provide comms to the fighting units. So yeah thats another thing we do, maybe a little less geeky.

So thats what I got right now. Figured I'd let you all know what I'm doing seeing how I'm sure no one really knows what I'm doing.

Productive Weekend

So like I was saying in the previous post, it was a productive weekend and the reason for that is.......we booked our flowers. I was starting to stress about FLOWERS. Now I am not a very flowery person. Yes they are pretty, but they DIE and who wants to spend a bagillion dollars on those crazy things...NOT US!! hahaha. ssssooooo, I went to one place a couple weeks a go and got a quote, lets just say HELL NO to that place. THomas said I should have told the girl to F*** OFF because it was so expensive. ANYWAYS, Thomas found a place online, which is fairly close to my house, and I checked it out last week....just to see how their display looked and all that jazz. I then booked an appointment so Thomas could come with me on Saturday. We went and it was a total SUCCESS. YAY!! I was really starting to stress about the friggin flowers. But at this point I knew exactly what I was looking for annnnd what we needed. So we got everything for waaaayyy cheeper. So we're under budget, a little higher then we were anticipating, but we're happy. WE're getting there and it gets more and more exciting.

Happy Halloween

Alright, so on Halloween Thomas came down for a visit. It was a VERY productive weekend. Friday night we stayed at my place and gave out candy to all the little (cute) critters. My brother Shawn, a couple of his friends and his girl friend were scaring kids, well bigger kids, it was was fun. There are pics of my house and done up along with the pumpkins we carved. It all looked pretty awesome.
On Saturday night Thomas and I went to the annual Halloween party I attend. It was Thomas' first time coming with me and that was fun as well. I was a nurse and Thomas was a Doctor. There were some really good costumes, my friends are creative. The Strangers you see in one of the pics are Fallon, Sheldon and Ken (left to right). Fallon is my best friend along with my Maid of Honour. So that was our Halloween.

The battle of Thanksgiving...

Well Steph and Megan have already covered most of the news about how Thanksgiving went. But not sure if any of them mentioned the war that broke out. Here it is...

Weekend to end Breast Cancer

This past weekend was the weekend to end Breast Cancer walk. It was a total success, and my team (Team Versace) had a blast. Best time of our lives, such a great experience. My team raised $14, 575 and we still have donations coming in which is amazing. We ended up raising an extra $2,575 over our goal. I say we did well considering it was our first year. To the right is a picture of the walkers behind us. Team Versace is in the yellow ponchos on the bottom left. We were walking past Ontario place. We started at Princess Gates, Exhibition grounds and walked to Downsview which was 34 km down.
This is a picture od the walkers infront of us.
GO TEAM VERSACE GO!

Our Villas at Downsview Park. On day two we started here and walked back to Princess gates which was 26 km. It was a different route day 2. In total we walked 60 km in two days. We're doing it again next year and Thomas is even joining the team. :D Thank you again for the outstanding support.

Long Weekend

I know it's kinda of late but atleast I'm posting. What would Thomas do without me :P. Well, the long weekend was BEAUTIFUL! Couldn't have asked for a better one. We spent it up at the cottage which was perfect. Turned out there was enough golfers for the tourny so they didn't need Thomas and I to play. I wanted to see Thomas' skills. We enjoyed ourselves with some drinks, swimming, water sports and fires. It was over all GREAT. Thomas didn't have such a long drive home because Orillia (where my cottage is) to Borden is about half an hour to 45 minutes. He's all settled in now. Thomas has one of his friends from Basic Training that he's been with the whole time until the end of phase 4. So atleast he knows someone.

News

Hi everyone, So there's been a lot going on in both Thomas' and my life. As for me I just got hired at Goodlife Fitness Women's club. They offered me two positions, my main one will be personal training and the second one is Member Ambassador. It's going to be very hektic in the beginning, but atleast this way (well I'm really hoping) that this will be a long term full time job. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy myself there. They've given me a lot and have been very good to me. So far, a very good experience, I'm excited!

As for Thomas, as we speek, he is heading down to my place for the weekend. His phase 3 finished today so he will be in Borden for the month of September. Once October rolls around he will be back in Kingston to finish up his last bit of training which will end before Christmas. He will then know where he's getting posted. I'm hoping it's not too far so that I'm still able to see him once in a while. Whatever happens, happens. It's for the best. I was just thinking, all the times that Thomas has been in Borden, it REALLY SUCKS that Steph, Matt, and Hilary are all gone from there. Who knows though, maybe Thomas and I will be posted with Steph and Matt, that would be pretty awesome. So that's pretty much all for now. We will post more after the long weekend.

Ps. Thomas might play his FIRST game of golf with me hehehe. I will fill you all in on how that goes

Birthday Weekend

So this past weekend was my 21st Birthday. I'm getting old, I was told that it all goes down hill from here, especailly now that I'm getting married. What have I gotton myself into!?!?! Oh well I'm sure Thomas will make a great husband and also make it well worth it. hehehe. SOOOO Thomas obivously came down for the long weekend (yea my birthday is the best day....hello, long weekend) and showed off his new wheels. I had a party at my house with my closer friends and some family. Some friends weren't able to make it because they were camping, but I had a BLAST. We drank, played a game called Holy Board....I think my mom's friends made up the game but my Dad made his own board so we can play. Just to give you an IDea it's kind of like Horse shoes, but also like Pool because it can get pretty frustrating. SO My friend Melissa and her boy friend Gary played with Thomas and I. Melissa and I were on a Team and KILLED Thomas and Gary..Girl power!! Yea I took pictures but im not quite sure where my USB cable is. I will post them once I find it. LEts just say I had a rough morning/ whole day Saturday.

SATURDAY First I woke up hung over and then to find out that I had a fat lip. The lip wasn't any ordinary fat lip....I think it was an allergic reaction. It had a blister on the inner part of my upper lip. It looked it if you were to take a niddle to it all the liquid would pour out. I took an allergy pill because thats all I had with me....So i went for a nap, woke up and it was almost gone. Still swollen, but barrely noticable. By the time dinner rolled around I was feeling MUCH BETTER and my botox looking lip was mostly gone. Just felt a little weird on the inner side. Thomas was calling me Angelina Jolie :S I must say though, My lip was pretty huge. And no I didn't take pics, but I should have.

So Thomas took me to dinner at The Iron Chef...WOW it was amazing!!!!!! I recommand you guys to all try it out (if there is one near you obviously). AMAZING though. There is two sections to the restaurant one where they cook right infront of you and the other is just Dinning. We went to the Dinning because the other section opened at 10:30 and we were starving.....still amazing though. So we came home and watched movies for the rest of the night.

Sunday we went to Wonderland. I must say Thomas is a WUSS when it comes to rides. Holy moly...there were so many that I wanted to go on but he was too CHICKEN!!! He was telling me to go on the ones I wanted to go on, but there was no point. It made more sense to go on ones that we both could go on. We had nick and Lisa on our minds as we were going on top gun. I must say pretty awesome way of proposing.

Monday we chilled around in the morning and then Thomas left back for Kingston :( I'll probably see him in a few weeks once his course is done.

Oh and Thomas was trying to teach me how to drive standard in a parking lot. I kind of got the hang of it, but not really LOL. I know how to stop and go....thats it so far. I did alright I guess.

Kingston Visit

Ok so here a re a few good pitures from my Kingston Visit. I one piture before, so for some reason these ended up being backwards. Im sure Ill figure it out. The three pictures are of the castle. The first had a bridge, no clue what it is but it looked cool and if you look closely you can see the Bride and Groom I was talking about (crossing the bridge). Second pic is of something that looked like it had rooms in it. It looked interesting. I don't know much about castles so I have no Idea what the First and Second pic are. Third pic is of the actual castle. You can't even see the whole thing, but it was very pretty. Thomas and I want to go for a tour sometime there. We have to go over the American Border to get to the castle. And the fourth pic is of Thomas and I while we were waiting for the 1000 Island cruise tour. We were eating some junk food due to hunger and then ate a hot dog on the boat. There are lots of pics that I took. I guess I went picture crazy, but they aren't as cool looking as these ones. Hope you enojy them :)

UPDATE

Hey everyone,

Yea it's been about a month since we updated, opppsss! So here it is, work for both Thomas and I is going alright, Thomas' seems more fun than mine, but I guess it'll do for now. I went to the cottage for and week two Fridays ago and I got home last Friday. I went to Kingston to see Thomas and it was pretty awesome. I drove there, it took about three hours or something but I really needed to see the guy :). When I got there on Friday I tried to surprise him lol. We partied on Friday and I got to meet all his friends. Saturday we went on a 1000 island cruise thing which took 2.5 hours. It was really interesting to hear some history, some of it was kinda boring, but the best part was the castle in the middle of the lake. Man, that thing was huge, when we were passing by there, there was a wedding going on. I told Thomas that would be cool to have a wedding there, but only if we were rich...oh well! Over all the cruise was pretty good. There was three different levels to the boat so we checked out each level. I have TONNES of pictures, but haven't loaded them onto my comp. Saturday we chilled around and watched some movies and ordered pizza. We also went for a walk around which one day could become our home, depends where Thomas gets posted. We both really like it there, so it might become a #1 option. Who knows though! Sunday we chilled around talked with people and then went to go see THE DARK KNIGHT!!! I recommand everyone to go see it. It's a little long, but AMAZING!

Thomas is picking up his car tonight at 6 30, so hopefully everything goes well. We're both really excited. He's getting standard, so he is going to teach me how to drive it. Hopefully this weekend if he comes down to test out his new sweet wheels. I must say, it's a really nice car. Now he can drive me all around town, since I was the taxi before.

So thats all for now, I'll update when something more interesting comes along. Hopefully I find a new job. It's not so easy trying to find something that will interest you for more than 3 months.

Wedding Date

Hi everyone, so we have our wedding date set!! It's June 6th 2009. MARK YOUR CALANDARS. YAY, Thomas and I are totally excited that things are now in motion.

So how it all began, I went to look at halls with my mom last Monday to start getting some ideas. OUr whole original plan was to use just a normal hall where you would get your own caterer because my uncle was going to cater it for us and maybe hook us up. So the first place I went to was a place my Dad does work at (electrical work) Le Treport. It's an actual banquet hall which is the opposite of our original plan. I wanted to see what they had to offer. So I ended up going to that place and that one only and ended up LOVING every bit of it because they are giving us a deal. Thanks so my Dad hehe they're hooking us up, we couldn't get that anywhere else. We would be spending more using my uncle because we would still have to rent tables, chairs and all the whole shabang. So this place was just freshly renovated and it's BEAUTIFUL. We're really happy with the whole package they gave us. The package includes A LOT and it's really decent. It's too long of a list to list everything that is included, but we're happy.

Thomas called LE Treport yesterday before I went in today (to give the deposit) and asked a few more questions that were unanswered for him, when he was asking me questions. So he liked the sound of it and today I went in to give the deposit. THomas almost cried HAHAHA. It's all good though. WE'RE SO EXCITED!
The above pic is what I took today of it all set up for a wedding today. Thats going to be our hall!

Niagara Falls.

Well I figured that Megan blogs enough for me, that it's about time that I post a little bit myself. Her and I went to Niagara falls for a few days last week. We had loads of fun, we went to two wax museums, one was good the other had all the sculptures behind glass so kinda sucked. The one museum, can't remember the name, was loads of fun cause Megan and I had a chance to goof around and take some entertaining pictures. If you were to see us you'd probably think what huge dorks we are, but that didn't matter it was worth it.

While we were there the Hotel(Hilton) gave us free tickets to a magician/hypnotist.... The tickets originally cost 34$ but let me tell you it wouldn't be worth more then 5$. Thank god they were free, cause I would have been bummed out if i payed anything for it.

In January, Megan and I went to the ROM, and were fascinated by the paper weight exhibit. It showed the whole process they do, along with how they blow glass. While we were walking around Niagara we came across a shop that did glass blowing. We were able to sit and watch, coolest thing ever. So much fun to watch them work. One of the guys talked with us a bit about it, and it was impressive to hear how little time it takes to make these great pieces.

We also went to the casino a bit at night. Seems
Megan has all the luck in the relationship (of course you need luck to get a great guy like me). Over the two times we went Megan was the one that won money, but in the end we didn't really win anything just lost money.

All in all it was a great time, but all that fun makes you really not wanna go back home/work. maybe I should retire.

One Day Remaining

Hi everyone, so there is one day left till I see Thomas. I'm so excited. It's less than 24 hours wooo!! Here's the run down. Thomas is leaving Sufield (sp?) tonight and going to hit up a bar with the guys in Medicine Hat (sp?). One of the dudes works there and it's Kareoke night. Also, there's something to do with chicks dancing hawian style, but I could be wrong.(and giving out booze, I'm guessing). Anyways, he will be staying over night in a hotel in Medicine Hat where the Airport is located and will be flying out at 5:00am. He lands in Calgary and then flies out ( I think its a four hour flight so i'm guessing) around 9am his time. Which would mean he lands at Pearson airport at 2:00pm my time. Yea there's a two hour difference. SO, I will hopefully be done work around 2:30, 3:00pm the LATEST! My work is fairly close to the airport so by the time I get there he will have his lugage and probably be waiting for me. So, it all works out perfectly. I'm hoping that it rains tomorrow, because they have been calling for rain tonight and all morning tomorrow. If it does rain then I don't have to go into work, which would make my life a tad easier. I won't be all stinky for Thomas hehe doing Landscaping.

So, thats pretty much it. We will take some pics and post them. I know you have been photo neglected, I obviously have no recent pics to post. No worries though, there should be some soon approaching. thats all for now folks, tata

Second Week of work

Hi Everyone, so I've started my second week doing the Landscaping job. It's pretty sweet I must say. It's easy and also a workout, I like it. I'm not going to say I love it because I don't think it's something I would take on in the future. Don't get me wrong though, I am enjoying myself. It has been a good experience (so far) and it's something different so that's what I was looking for.

So as for summer jobs right now, I have the gym which is called Mississauga Valleys Community Centre. Yes, it is with the city and is a community centre, so I get paid more than normal staff that work for a commercial gym doing floor staff. I choose to do municipal instead of commercial or corporate because I didn't want to be concentrated on doing SALES, I want to actually help people. So the gym I'm at is majority of old people, and I love it. They have got to be the funniest, nicest people. So I'm there on Mondays from 7am-11am. It's a short shift, but Atleast I have my foot in the door with the city.

Then I'm doing the landscaping company which is Tuesdays-Fridays and that company is called Clintar Landscaping, it's a franchise. Last week (being my first week) we started at 7:30 and finished around 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30. I think it was a different time everyday lol. Today and tomorrow we are starting at 6:30am so we'll probably finish around 2:00, 2:30pm. It's a pretty chill job, but it can also be hard work at times. The site I was at today I was whipping around in a golf cart, it was fun.

Two other girls that I work with sometimes were at another site today and they were chased by a GOOSE. The Goose chased them a good distance. If I was there watching I would have been laughing. Those things are crazy. They have nests EVERWHERE, it's unbelieveable. AND they are CRAZY viscious when guarding the female.

As for Mr. Thomas, he's just been up to work. I know he blew things up last week or something with one of the other guys. He said it was fun. Every Tuesday he has been going to the movies with Corpral Hamilton ( I think that's his name), which is in Medicine Hat (ummm spelling?). So tonight they are going on another date hehe (Thomas is going to hate me for saying that, but I had to). I learned some military lingo today. Thomas told me that they call the wives the "Niners" . Apparently when they talk on the walkie talkie things the man in charge is called the "Niner" soooooo I guess according to men the wives "THINK" they know "EVERYTHING'' and are INCHARGE so that is why they call us the Niners. HA they're one to talk.

COUNT DOWN:THERE'S 9 MORE DAYS, WWOOOO!

Lil Update

So, I'm done school as of last Friday. It sure doesn't feel like it because I still have a certification to do this Thursday-Saturday. It's three days long but I will be a certified Personal Trainer along with a certified fitness assesser. I'm excited, hopefully I pass it hehe. I have been looking for a full time job for the summer. I'm looking into Landscaping. I have an interview tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.

As for Thomas he hasn't been up to much, just working. He did look after his friend's dog for the weekend, which I know once we move in we will definitely be getting a doggy. Oh and there is 24 more days till his arrival, now that is exicing. I have a little count down on my calendar :D. So he will be returning around May 21-23ish. He has to book his flight and talk with a lady. Which reminds me the lady is back from holidays today, so hopefully he is able to book his flight for Wed May 21, won't get my hopes up though. But yea, he will be coming home around that time and then we leave for Niagra Falls on the 28th-30. We're going during the week because it's so much cheaper. We're going to hit up some slots/black jack, booze and clifton hill. I'm so excited. So, thats basically it, oh and i'm sure u all have heard about all the snow Alberta got, yea Thomas has snow :P. Alright thats all for now. Oh and you guys should check out the Breast Cancer website and how well my team is doing so far, I'm so proud of everyone. Thanks for the support

Breast Cancer Walk

Hi everyone, well Thomas had a good idea to present this post to all of you threw the blogsite. I can explain what I'm doing to all of you in one shot, how great is that!?

So let me get to the point. My aunt which is my Mom's, brother's wife was diagnose with breast cancer last September. This really hit the family hard. Well, I came up with the idea to do the 60 km walk on the streets of Toronto in September 2008. This walk will take 2 days to complete. I attended an orientation last Saturday and it was totally amazing, the rush you get with all the people there supporting our every step just looked unbelieveable. I am asking for all of you to help support me to complete this walk for a great cause along with my Aunt who is still in recovery with this disease. If you could please take the time to read below it will give you a little outline of what we will be doing and asking for.

And also, before you read this just to clear a few things up. Diane Versace-Gomes is my Mom, Diane Versace (Mallon) is my aunt who has breast cancer and Michele is my Mom's sister.

THE WEEKEND TO END BREAST CANCER A VERY SPECIAL REQUEST FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Hi!! On September 5-7, 2008 we are asking you to support our journey. We have decided to join the 60 kilometre walk for The Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Our family has recently been touched by this horrible disease called Breast Cancer, to someone very close and dear to our hearts. Some of you may already know and for those who don’t Diane (Mallon) Versace. She is a mother to Rachel and Alyssa and a wife to Paul. She is also daughter, a sister to seven, a daughter-in-law, a sister-in-law, an aunt, a niece, a friend, a nurse and a teacher. Diane is very special to her family and to anyone who knows her or ever met her. Diane is fighting this disease called Breast Cancer. Diane has had surgery and radiation treatment. It was discovered early in 2007 and it makes a difference. She is doing very well and is very strong. She has had the fight of her life and so we would like to join her with our help and support her.

Megan Korn, Diane’s niece has created a team in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer called Team Versace for Diane Versace. Anyone who would like to join our team is welcomed, please contact us. We will be training and getting into shape. The steps we will be taking are nothing compared to Diane’s steps she has taken and the steps still ahead of her.

Did you know according to the National Centre approximately 20 500 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, 5 400 women are not able to survive this horrible disease; this is why we are walking. When discovered early it can be beat.

This brings us to the reason we are sending this letter, we each have a personal goal to raise a minimum of $2000.00 each team mate for the 60 kilometre walk. Thus we pledge to raise $6000.00. Yes, this is a plea for your donation; we are asking for a dollar a kilometre or anything that you can donate. We are thanking you in advance for your donation. THANK YOU!!!!

You can make your donation on line at www.endcancer.ca, to our Team Versace and the members listed. Tax receipts are made for donations made $10 or more. You can fill out the form and mail a personal cheque to any of our team mates. We do accept cash donations and they would be divided to help the entire team. If you know anyone who would like to help support us and our Team Versace please forward our information for their donation. The more support we have the better success we will have for our team. We want Diane Versace to be proud of us. We are doing it for her and her long life ahead.

We cannot thank you enough, and we thank you on behalf of Diane and her family.Have you had your mammogram!!!

Thank you for your generous donation.
